At KIPP NYC, we use uniFLOW to ensure that your documents are printed securely and only when you are physically at the printer. This means no more "sprints to the printer" to grab sensitive documents before someone else sees them, and no more wasted paper from uncollected jobs.
1. Sending Your Documents to the Queue
Think of the uniFLOW queue as a "digital holding pen." When you hit print from your computer, your document isn't sent to a specific printer yet—it’s sent to your personal secure cloud.
From your KIPP Laptop: Select the printer named "KIPP Secure Cloud Print" (or similar "Secure Print" naming convention).
Settings: You can choose Color or Black & White and Single or Double-sided right from your computer. Don't worry if you change your mind; you can adjust these again at the physical machine!
2. Registering Your Badge (One-Time Setup)
To "unlock" your print jobs at the machine, you’ll use your KIPP ID badge. If it’s your first time using a new printer, you’ll need to link your badge to your account.
Tap your badge on the card reader (usually a small box attached to the side or front of the printer).
The screen will recognize that the badge is "unknown" and ask you to log in.
Enter your KIPP NYC credentials (your standard Windows/Okta username and password) on the printer’s touchscreen.
Once you hit "Log In," your badge is officially linked! From now on, a simple tap is all you need.
3. Releasing Your Print Jobs
Now for the easy part. Once you are standing at any Canon multi-function printer in the building:
Tap your badge to log in.
Select "Secure Print" from the main menu on the touchscreen.
You will see a list of all the documents you’ve sent to the queue.
Select your jobs: You can "Print All" or select individual documents.
Pro Tip: If you noticed you accidentally sent 50 copies in color but only need 1 in Black & White, select the job and hit "Options" to change the settings before you hit print!
4. Scanning to Email or Google Drive
uniFLOW also makes scanning a breeze. Because you logged in with your badge, the printer already knows who you are.
Select "Scan and Send" or "Scanning" from the home screen.
Select "Scan to Myself" to have the file sent directly to your KIPP NYC email.
You can also select "Google Drive" to scan a document directly into your cloud storage.
Quick Troubleshooting Tips
"My badge isn't working!" – Make sure you aren't holding your badge inside a thick wallet or behind another RFID card (like a transit pass). Hold the badge directly against the reader for 2 seconds.
"I don't see my print job." – Check that you were connected to the "KIPP-Staff" Wi-Fi when you hit print. Jobs stay in the queue for 24 hours before they are automatically deleted.
"The printer is jammed." – If it's a simple paper clear, follow the on-screen animations. For anything more complex, please submit a ticket via the Tech Express portal.
