Welcome to the team! As part of your workspace setup, you have been assigned a KIPP NYC Desk Phone Extension. This extension is active on the Avaya desk phone in your classroom or office.
Tech Note: You can use 5-digit dialing from any KIPP NYC desk phone to reach any other staff member across all campuses and offices. You can find all staff extensions by searching the Google Contacts directory or by typing a colleague's name into the "To" field in Gmail.
1. First-Time Voicemail Setup
You must complete these steps from your assigned desk phone to activate your mailbox.
Enter the System: Lift the handset and dial
*17.Login:
Enter your Extension Number followed by
#.Enter the temporary password
123456followed by#.
Change Your Password: Follow the prompts to create a new 6-digit password.
Security Note: Your password cannot be consecutive numbers (123456), a single repeated digit (111111), or include your extension number.
Record Your Name: Press
1, record your name, and press#to confirm.Record Your Greeting (Optional):
Press
3to record a personal greeting.Press
1to start recording, then1again to select "Greeting 1."Once finished, press
#to save.Press
1to activate this greeting for all incoming calls.
2. Checking Messages from Your Desk
Once your setup is complete, checking messages at your own desk is simple:
Press the Message button (envelope icon) on your phone.
Enter your Password and press Done.
3. Checking Messages from a Different School Phone
If you are at a "Guest Phone" or in a different classroom:
Dial
*17.Enter your Extension and
#.Enter your Password and
#.
4. Checking Messages from Outside the Building
You can access your voicemail from your cell phone or home phone at any time:
Call the KIPP NYC Voicemail Portal at 929-521-7282.
When prompted, enter your Extension followed by
#.Enter your Password followed by
#.Press
2to listen to new messages.Pro-Tip: Press
0to skip the "Header" info (date/time) and jump straight to the message.
