Grades K – 4: Logging in with Clever Badges
Our younger students will continue to use Clever Badges for a fast, "no-typing" login experience.
Power On: Open the Chromebook and ensure it is turned on.
Access the Scanner: On the login screen, click the Add Person button. This will automatically activate the Chromebook’s camera and load the "Clever Badge" screen.
Scan the Badge: Have the student hold their Clever Badge up to the camera.
Success: A green check mark appears, and the student is logged in.
Try Again: A red X appears. Simply adjust the badge and try again.
Pro-Tip: The camera is smart! It can read the badge even if it’s held sideways or upside down.
Grades 5 – 12: Manual Google Login
Students in the upper grades use their individual Google Workspace (formerly GAFE) credentials. This helps them practice digital literacy and prepares them for professional workflows.
1. Locating Student Credentials If a student does not know their username or password, staff members can retrieve them via the Personalized Learning Account Overview report on Tableau.
2. Signing In
Click the Add Person button on the bottom left of the login screen.
The Clever Badge (camera) screen will appear by default. Click "Enter Google Account Info" in the bottom right corner.
The student should then enter their full school email address and their unique password.
Quick Troubleshooting for Staff
Camera not loading? Ensure there isn't a physical webcam cover sliding over the lens.
Password not working? Double-check the Tableau report, as passwords may have been reset over the break.
Wifi Issues? Ensure the Chromebook is connected to the "KIPP-Internal" network before attempting to sign in.
